Finding Justice . Achieving Results
Founded in 2001 by Cyrus Mehri and Steven Skalet, Mehri & Skalet, PLLC is one of the nation’s leading class action and complex litigation firms. We represent employees, consumers, investors, small businesses and others in high-impact cases against powerful interests. We have secured some of the largest monetary awards in history on behalf of our clients, while also ensuring lasting, systemic change. From securing more protection for government whistleblowers to helping minority coaches succeed in the National Football League, we achieve results in many forms.
Diversity in Sports
On September 30, 2002, Johnnie L. Cochran, Jr. and Cyrus Mehri issued a ground-breaking report –“Black Coaches in the National Football League: Superior Performance, Inferior Opportunities”– revealing that black NFL head coaches were held to a higher standard than their white counterparts, and were consequently denied a fair chance to compete for head coaching jobs.
The report opened the NFL’s eyes to its teams’ unfair hiring processes. Within two months, the League had formed a diversity committee, headed by Pittsburgh Steelers owner Dan Rooney, and announced a diversity plan, which included the requirement that each team interview at least one minority candidate prior to selecting a head coach. The requirement came to be known as the Rooney Rule, and it changed the face of head coaching in the NFL.
Madison Avenue Project
The Madison Avenue Project was born from remarkable research commissioned about the lack of African-American executives in the advertising industry. In 2009, we discovered that racial discrimination is 38% worse in the advertising industry than in the overall U.S. labor market, and that the “discrimination divide” between advertising and other U.S. industries is more than twice as bad now as it was 30 years ago.
The study found that African-Americans suffered a shortfall of 7,200 jobs in the industry and were paid 20% less on average than their white counterparts with comparable experience and education.
Women on Wall Street
The Women on Wall Street Project began as a joint initiative of Mehri & Skalet and the National Council of Women’s Organization to remedy the historic pay disparities impacting women working in the financial sector. Since its inception, the project has revealed a great deal about Wall Street’s failures to allocate business opportunities to its female financial advisors.
Beyond exposing this long-running inequity, we challenged some of the largest financial titans - and won. In 2007, we settled a class action lawsuit against Morgan Stanley & Co. for nearly $47 million on behalf of female plaintiffs who had alleged gender inequity in the distribution of accounts and other business opportunities. In 2008, we settled a similar case against Smith Barneyfor $33 million. And in early 2011, we settled our third case, this one regarding compensation and promotion practices against Wells Fargo/Wachovia for $32 million.
Voices for Corporate Responsibility
Fed up with corporate officers who skirt the law for financial gain, and inspired by the courageous employees who come forward to expose such actions, Mehri & Skalet launched Voices for Corporate Responsibility to create a community of professionals dedicated to ethical, responsible business practices. The project seeks to encourage corporate professionals to:
Recognize wrongdoing in their own places of employment;
Stand up against officer and director decision-making that is motivated by short-term interests or personal greed;
Participate in regulatory and legislative reform that protects their right to address conduct that adversely impacts the corporation, shareholders, and consumers.

- Our Campus Market / Residence Hall Linens
- Anytime Duct Cleaning/AA Duct Cleaning
- Automobile Replacement Windshield Investigation
- Keurig / Green Mountain Antitrust Investigation
- Safelite Windshields
- Precise Auto Protection
Mehri & Skalet is investigating a potential consumer class action against Lumber Liquidators, the largest and fastest-growing retailer of discounted wood and other building supplies. A recent 60 Minutes report linked the company’s laminate flooring to possible health and safety violations. Specifically, independent lab tests have found dangerously high levels of formaldehyde in samples of laminate flooring purchased from the chain. Exposure to high levels of formaldehyde can increase the risk of cancer and chronic respiratory problems.
If you have purchased laminate flooring from Lumber Liquidators, we would like to speak with you. Please contact us.
Our Campus Market / Residence Hall Linens
We are investigating a potential consumer class action on behalf of consumers who purchased towels, bedding and other products from Our Campus Market or Residence Hall Linens. It appears that these companies may be misleading consumers by inaccurately describing their products in advertisements and marketing materials.
Anytime Duct Cleaning/AA Duct Cleaning
Mehri & Skalet is investigating a potential class action against a duct cleaning company for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and related consumer fraud. Despite the fact that the TCPA restricts unsolicited phone calls and “robocalls,” it appears that this company uses such calls routinely to enlist customers.
The company operates under the names Anytime Duct Cleaning, AA Duct Cleaning, and AAA Anytime Duct Cleaning.
The Company allegedly makes unsolicited telephone calls and visits to consumers, especially senior citizens. It also engages in a “bait & switch” scheme by advertising one price for air duct cleaning while charging another price. Further, the Company allegedly misrepresents to consumers the necessity of purchasing expensive services.
Better Business Bureaus in Georgia and Missouri have issued warnings and opened investigations against the Company. The Missouri Attorney General has also filed a lawsuit against the Company.

Automobile Replacement Windshield Investigation
Mehri & Skalet is investigating a potential consumer class action concerning auto windshield replacements. We are evaluating consumer complaints that replacement windshields are defective, and tend to crack and require replacement earlier and more often than the original manufacturer windshields. In addition, we are investigating claims that windshield replacement prices may have been inflated for many customers.
The leading manufacturers of replacement automobile windshields include Safelite, Pilkington, PGW, Carlite, XYG and FYG.
The goal of this suit would be to recover damages for consumers who did not get what they paid for, or were overcharged. We are actively investigating this case and talking with consumers. Did you have to replace your car windshield after just having a chip repaired?
Has your replacement car windshield needed to be replaced because it cracked shortly after being installed? Have you had problems obtaining warranty coverage for replacement of a cracked windshield? If you have had to replace your windshield in your car, either after making an insurance claim or paying out-of-pocket to install the replacement, we would like to speak with you! Please contact us.
Keurig / Green Mountain Antitrust Investigation
We are investigating a potential antitrust action on behalf of direct purchasers of Keurig coffee pods. It appears that the owners and manufacturers of these products have engaged in anticompetitive behavior that had the effect of inflating the prices of Keurig coffee pods. If you purchased Keurig coffee pods either from Green Mountain Coffee Roasters or Keurig, we would like to speak with you. Please contact us.
Safelite Windshield Investigation
Mehri & Skalet is investigating a potential consumer class action concerning overcharges to customers who had their windshields replaced by Safelite. Many of Safelite's customers are referred to Safelite by their insurance carriers, who use Safelite to manage their automobile windshield claims.

Precise Auto Protection
Mehri & Skalet is investigating a potential consumer class action against Precise Auto Protection, LLC for violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and related consumer fraud. Despite the fact that the TCPA restricts unsolicited phone calls and “robocalls,” it appears that this company uses such calls routinely to enlist customers.
The company’s representatives allegedly make unsolicited calls to consumers, misrepresenting that they are the “Vehicle Processing Department” in order to sell consumers extended warranty service contracts on their vehicles.
If you have received unsolicited calls or robocalls, or you have purchased a service contract from Precise Auto Protection, we would like to speak with you. Please contact us.
