Pregnancy Discrimination
In addition to the discrimination that plagues all of society women can face additional mistreatment resulting from their biological role in creating of life. The firm successfully resolved her claims in a confidential settlement. M&S will continue to take on the issue of pregnancy discrimination until all pregnant women in the work place get the respect and equal treatment they deserve.
In 2004 M&S and the National Council of Women’s Organizations began the Women on Wall Street project to correct the gender bias and exclusionary practices that were rampant in the financial services industry. Since then we have successfully litigated three large class action suits against major industry leaders. These suits have produced over $100 million in settlement payments to female employees, yielded systemic changes at the institutions involved, and caused the industry to take notice.
