Safeway Product Recall
Mehri & Skalet, in conjunction with the Center for Science in the Public Interest and other co-counsel, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Safeway for its failure to notify Club Card holders about recalls of dangerous or unsafe products.
Safeway collects phone numbers and other contact information for every customer who uses its Safeway Club Card, but fails to contact customers to inform them of Class I recalls, which represent a serious threat to their customers’ health. Other stores have followed this practice for years. Plaintiffs contend that Safeway can prevent needless suffering at very little cost, informng customers of recalls and the availability of refunds for dangerous or unsafe food.
Plaintiffs filed their complaint in February 2011; the case is in its early stages.
We would like to hear from you if you purchased products at Safeway that were subsequently recalled. Please contact us.
