Under New York law, an auto insurance company may not charge more for auto insurance because a driver has had a minor violation, such as speeding by less than 15 mph over the speed limit, defective equipment, failure to yield or failure to signal. Nevertheless, GEICO does charge drivers more because they were speeding by less than 15 mph over the speed limit or have had other minor violations. If you are now or ever were insured by GEICO, and you had a minor violation either before insuring with GEICO or while you were insured by GEICO, you may be entitled to a refund.
